The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM) invites applications for faculty to support the development of a hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. We are excited to offer opportunities for innovative, forward-thinking candidates to join our team of founding faculty in building a world-class, cutting-edge DPT program in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Johns Hopkins Medicine. We seek candidates with a passion for DPT education and expertise in DPT program leadership administration, including admissions, student affairs, faculty development, and curriculum and assessment. Multiple positions will be available with appointments beginning as early as Fall 2023 to support program development through pre-accreditation/accreditation, program launch, and beyond. Initial review of applicants will begin in early 2023 and will continue as we build a team to implement the DPT program.
Faculty rank within the JHUSOM and salary are commensurate with education and experience. All members of the core faculty must demonstrate contemporary expertise in their assigned areas of teaching and engage in scholarship and institutional/professional service. The Johns Hopkins DPT Program will be hybrid, with faculty and students located across the country and traveling regularly to Baltimore for in-person experiences. Faculty may live remotely but must be willing to travel and stay in Baltimore. The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as part of a remote/hybrid team, and in online/hybrid instruction and leadership.
Johns Hopkins University is seeking accreditation of a new physical therapist education program from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The program is planning to submit an Application for Candidacy, which is the formal application required in the pre-accreditation stage, in June 2024.
Qualifications
Required: Earned doctoral degree in physical therapy or related field and experience in teaching, curriculum development, and/or administration in a physical therapist education program.
Preferred: Experience as a full-time core faculty member in a DPT program. Earned terminal doctoral degree (such as PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.) and/or specialist certification. Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice physical therapy in Maryland. Johns Hopkins University is committed to building a diverse educational environment.
