About The Foundation The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research (Foundation) is the only national nonprofit solely dedicated to funding physical therapy research and promising researchers through grants, scholarships, and fellowships. We fund research and develop researchers to optimize movement and health. The Foundation is an affiliate of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Foundation staff are employed by APTA and receive the same employee benefits and adhere to APTA policies and procedures.
Summary The Associate, Events & Donor Relations is an integral role that supports the Foundation’s ability to engage and maintain current donors while expanding our donor base. This position is responsible for developing and implementing annual plans for the Marquette Challenge, a national grassroots student led fundraiser. The Associate is highly engaged in supporting PT and PTA students as well as faculty at universities across the country in their fundraising events on our behalf. The Associate also leads planning of recognition, networking, and fundraising events as well as coordinating meetings held at conferences and at HQ. This position solicits contributions and sponsorship for event revenue. The Associate also coordinates a telethon fundraiser, conducted by leaders of the profession, and supports direct mail / e-mail fundraising components around this program. This position works collaboratively with development and communication staff and is supervised by the Manager, Communications and Marketing.
Essential Functions
Creates and implements work plans related to the Marquette Challenge. Specifically, advances fundraising goals and strategies including the implementation of plans to maintain engagement of students upon graduation.
Leads meetings and events (in person and virtual) related to the Challenge. Gives live or recorded presentations to students at HQ or at their universities.
Coordinates presence at conferences and meetings, reserving rooms, and determining AV, setup, and catering needs; prepares conference materials for team and the board; tracks expenses/revenue.
Creates schedules for conferences/meetings. Tracks and organizes staff, student coordinators, and Board roles. Manages Foundation booth presence and logistics. Works with team to support fundraising efforts at conferences and special events. Works with staff to create invitation lists.
Serves as the principal source of information to students, faculty, and staff on event related activities.
Works closely with volunteers and supports all aspects of the telethon based fundraising effort. Works with development staff to develop volunteer call lists, handle logistics related to this effort.
Collaborates with communication staff to drafts articles and materials related to annual fundraising efforts and assists with development of direct mail solicitation and event invitations.
Assists with evaluation and analysis of annual giving, provides reports on fundraising and events results.
Works collaboratively with staff to ensure gift entry and acknowledgments are accurate and completed timely. Provides back-up data-entry support as needed. Supports specific functions of review of data entry, receipting and reporting.
Coordinates participation in workplace giving programs and assists with promotion around giving days.
Collaborates with association staff colleagues to strategize, coordinate, and implement opportunities of interest to student members.
Keeps abreast of giving trends, best practices, and other data tools to enhance our ability to utilize data effectively.
Directly respond to donor correspondence and queries across a range of media including phone and email. Approaches interactions with a customer-service mindset.
Works closely with and provides guidance to the annual summer intern, ensuring a positive experience.

Qualifications
2 years of relevant experience; undergraduate degree preferred.
Demonstrated ability to provide support with event coordination.
Self-starter, resourcefulness in problem-solving with grace under pressure.
Must be highly organized and able to meet deadlines.
Excellent spoken and written communication skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to set and manage priorities, and juggle multiple projects, moving them forward simultaneously.
Must be proficient in MS Office and web-based applications.
Experience using a donor database system such as Raiser's Edge a plus.
Travel Requirements Up to 10% - local and national.
